Itinerary

4 Weeks Hajj Package 2014 Group 1/2 itinerary: Depending on departure 13/14th September 2014 (17 Dhu al Qidha 1435)

Day – 1: (13/09/2014) (17 Dhu al Qidha 1435)-) – Meet at Heathrow Airport flight to Jeddah

Please make sure you have your travel documents (passports etc.) with you. Everyone is expected to arrive early and register with the Sunnah Tours team member after that everyone is to check in individually and make their way to the departure lounge and board on time.

Sunnah Tour’s guides will accompany the pilgrims from Heathrow Airport until the return to the UK In’sha’allah.

Day – 2: (14/09/2014) (18 Dhu al Qidha 1435)- Arrival at Jeddah Airport Transfer to Madina Hotel
from Jeddah Airport Transfer to Madina check in to Hotel  –  Immigration at Jeddah airport can be up to 6 hours or more. It’s quite stressful after a long journey from the UK having to waiting around at Jeddah airport not knowing how long it would be before we have the all clear to make our way to Madina, however being prepared and knowing what to expect builds up the patience level and helps cope with some of difficulties. The immigration and facilities at Jeddah Airport have improved a great deal over the past few years and is continually improving. So it’s not all that bad any more masha’allah

Arriving at the hotel and checking in can also take a few of hours.

After resting, Prayers in Masjid al Nabavi and salaams at the Rodha. It is very busy in Riyadh Jannah area for the 2 rakkah prayers (between 10pm and 1am is the only time when it’s slightly quite, praying in Riyadh-ul-Jannah could be done any time during your stay in Madina).

Please take care:

That the prayer areas for the males and females are segregated and have separate entrances.

Female visits of the Rodha are organised by the female guides of the Prophet’s وسلم عليه الله صلى Masjid who organise groups of females and provide a speaker of their language. (Please ask inside the Masjid for information on times of the visits to the Rodha. In the females area they are quit strict with photography avoid taking pictures as you may lose your phone or camera and also end up in a bit of trouble).

Please note that the prayer areas for the males and females are segregated and have separate entrances.

Day – 3: (15/09/2014) (19 Dhu al Qidha 1435) – Rest day in Madinah. A much needed rest day after a tiring journey from the UK, build up energy and pray in the Prophet ’s  وسلم عليه الله صلى beautiful Masjid, while you’re there explore the Masjid. You can go up onto the roof, visit the library inside the Masjid.

Visiting Jannat-ul-Baqqi (which is adjacent to the Prophet’s وسلم عليه الله صلى  Masjid at the front of the Masjid towards the left) is open to individual visitors after Asr.  Large organised group visits are unwelcome by the authorities.

You may choose to pray Maghrib or Isha (its usually a little cooler at these times) outside at the front of the Masjid on the left of the Imam and accompany the funeral for the burial (which is almost after every salah). This is not only a Sunnah but is a heart softener and leaves an everlasting affect. You can do this as many times as you like during your stay in Madinah

“Khabbab reported that he asked “O ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar! Did you hear what Abu Hurairah says? He says that he heard Allah’s Messenger وسلم عليه الله صلى, saying. ‘Whoever leaves his house to attend a funeral prayer, offers funeral prayer, and then follows the funeral procession until the body is buried will receive two kerats of reward, each of which is like the mountain of Uhud. And whoever offers the funeral prayer and then leaves for home (This proves that a person does not need permission of the family of the deceased to leave after attending the funeral) will get a reward like the mountain of Uhud” (Muslim). Ibn ‘Umar sent Khabbab to ‘Aishah asking her about the statement of Abu Hurairah. She said, “Abu Hurairah has told the truth.” When Ibn ‘ Umar was informed about this he said, “We have indeed lost many a kerat.”

Lecture: After Asr on Etiquettes of visiting the city of the Prophet  وسلم عليه الله صلى (if pilgrims rested).

Please Note the dates for our lectures and our activities may change, however this is a guide to how your days will be planned during your journey in sha’allah

Day – 4: (16/09/2014) (20 Dhu al Qidha 1435) – Prayers in the Masjid. You can also choose to visit Masjid Quba after making wudu from the hotel and earn the reward of an Umrah. The Prophet وسلم عليه الله صلى said “Whoever purifies himself in his house, then comes to the Masjid of Quba’ and prays there, he will have the reward of an ‘Umrah.” (Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 1412).

It costs about 20 to 30 sr return for a taxi ride there and back (if you are good at battering if not then you could end up paying a lot more). After Fajar is a good time for the visit, (masjid Quba is part of the ziyyara trip also).  After Asr a lecture.

Day – 5: (17/09/2014) (21 Dhu al Qidha 1435) – Have breakfast and around 7.30am leave for a guided tour of the historical sites in and around the city of the Prophet وسلم عليه الله صلى, return 11.30am/12.00pm. Please make sure you carry bottled drinking water with you as it gets quit hot at Uhadh. This tour goes through most of the historical sites in a Madina stopping at some of the sites like Uhdah, Masjid Quba, Qibla Tayeen etc. and driving pass some of them like the Massjid  built on certain sites. It’s quit enjoyable and informative as we retrace the footsteps The Messenger of Allah and some of the greatest men and women that were around Him. Also its a drive through and round the city of the Messenger Allah وسلم عليه الله صلى.

 (May be lecture after Asr)

Day – 6: (18/09/2014) (22 Dhu al Qidha 1435) – Normal day Prayers in the Masjid finish off shopping. Most of the pilgrims do most of their shopping in Madina for a few reasons. There is less to do in Madina, shops are located close by in the shopping plazas next to our hotel in Tayba centre and it’s not as busy as it is Makkah. Any remaining shopping can be done in Makkah or the last minute shopping in Azzizyah.

To exchange currency: Currency exchange shop is called a Saraf or Sarf and they are located in pedestrian walk ways leading  upto the Masjid.

The Pakistani restaurants: are located at the rear of our hotel, you walk across the streets at the back of the hotel and cross over a construction site and the Pakistani restaurants are across the road from the construction site. They are called Pakistani hotel. The western fast food chains Kentucky chicken etc is located in the last left street from the hotel leading up to the Masjid. Please ask a member of the Sunnah Tours staff for assistance if needed.

Day – 7: (19/09/2014) (23 Dhu al Qidha 1435) – Finish of shopping pack up luggage and prepare for the final lecture on the journey from Madina to Makkah and how to perform Umrah.

Daily lectures: In Arabic, Urdu, English and many other languages take place in Masjid al-Nabavi after Salahtul Fajar and Maghrib. We strongly recommend you take advantage and benefit from these lectures apart from the ones organised by Sunnah Tours in the Hotel.

Day – 8: (20/09/2014) (24 Dhu al Qidha 1435) – Checkout of Madina hotel and proceed to Makkah. You may choose to change into your ihraam from the hotel or change at the Meqaat (Dhul Hulayfah) however you can only pronounce the intention and talbiyah from the Meqaat and thats when and where you will in the state of Ihraam..

Luggage should have been packed over night and around 8 am should be left outside your rooms for the porters to start bringing it down to the loading bay. Please ensure every single item including your hand bags etc. has a Sunnah Tours luggage tag on it in order for the entire luggage to stay together as it won’t be just us but many other groups checking out at the same time and luggage can get los and mixed up with other group’s luggage. Sunnah Tours can be responsible for damaged or lost luggage. We don’t need to leave our rooms until the hotel management ask us to check out.

The coach Journey to Makkah can take up to 8/10 hours, including the stop at the Meqaat and 1or 2 other stops. The more times we stop the longer the journey becomes. Carry some food and cold drinks with you all the time.

  • Check into Makkah hotel, do Umrah (Arriving at the hotel and checking in can take a few hours). Checking out of Madina hotel and travelling to Makkah and waiting to check in for a few hours can be quit stressful we advise everyone to be prepared and have patience.

Day – 9: (21/09/2014) (25 Dhu al Qidha 1435) – Prayers and Tawaf (optional).

  • Lecture subject to permission of the hotel management.
  • While you will be able to have breakfast in the hotel, there is a food court on the third floor P3 down from the lifts from the hotel reception which offers all the major western fast food chains as well as Arabic and Asian food is also available

  • Sunnah Tours advice to pilgrims on performing optional Tawaf/s daily – As it gets busier by the hour in the Haram please take extra care for Tawafs you perform see how busy it is in the Mataf (ground floor around the Kaba) if it’s too crowded it’s always a lot quieter and easier on the roof especially for the families. It is a longer circuit however it’s very peaceful and there is almost no pushing and shoving on the roof and especially at night time it’s nice and fresh as it’s in the open air masha’allah. Performing Tawaf on the roof also helps the newly arriving pilgrims, who have to perform the Tawaf for their Umrah and to make it in the Mataf (ground floor around the Kaba) which is a shorter circuit and helps the newly arriving pilgrims who are tired after the long journeys from their countries.

Day – 22: (04/10/2014) (9 Dhu al Hijja 1435)THE DAY OF ARAFAH (HAJJ)  Pray Fajar and prepare to be transported to ARAFAAH for Hajj. In Arafah pray Dhur and Asr and spend the rest of the day supplicating, hand raised, standing, sitting, asking Allah for forgiveness and guidance for your selves and all the Ummah. The Day of Arafah is the Day that we all make this journey for.

On this Day; Allah frees slaves from the fire on Arafah more than any other day

Likewise, the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘There is no day on which Allaah frees people from the Fire more so than on the day of’Arafah. He comes close to those (people standing on ’Arafah), and then He revels before His Angels saying, ‘What are these people seeking.”[Jaami’ut-Tirmidhee (3/377)]

On this Day: Forgiveness of the Sins even if they are like the foam on the Sea

As for you staying till the evening in Arafah, then Allaah descends to the sky of the Duniya and He boasts about you to the Angels, and says: ‘My slaves have come to Me, looking rough, from every deep valley hoping for My mercy, so if your sins were equivalent to the amount of sand or the drops of rain or like the foam on the sea I will forgive them. So go forth my slaves! Having forgiveness and for what or who you have interceded for.’[Reported by at-Tabarani in his book “al-Kabeer” and by al-Bazaar.

On This Day: It is the day on which the religion was perfected and Allaah’s Favour was completed.

In Al-Saheehayn it was reported from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) that a Jewish man said to him, “O Ameer al-Mu’mineen, there is an aayah in your Book which you recite; if it had come to us Jews, we would have taken that day as an ‘Eid (festival).” ‘Umar said,“Which aayah?” He said: “This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed my favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” [al-Maa’idah 5:3 – interpretation of the meaning]. ‘Umar said, “We know on which day and in which place that was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It was when he was standing in ‘Arafaah on a Friday.”

On This Day: Allaah expresses His pride to His angels

It was reported from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah expresses His pride to His angels at the time of ‘Ishaa’ on the Day of ‘Arafaah, about the people of‘Arafaah. He says, ‘Look at My slaves who have come unkempt and dusty.’”  Narrated by Ahmad

The standing on ‘Arafah is the Hajj.

The standing on ‘Arafah is the hajj. The crowds should remind you of the Day of Resurrection. Humble yourself to Allaah, manifest your‘uboodiyyah to Him Alone through du’aa, sincere intention and strong determination to free yourself from the sins of the past and to build up a commitment to rush for doing what is good. Think of becoming a better person when you return. Rid yourself of false pride and showing off because it may ruin what you gain on this day.

The Almighty Swears by these 10 Days:

Allah , the Almighty, swears by these days.

  • By the dawn
  • By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijja)
  • And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). (Al-Fajr 1-3)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘ The ten are the ten days of Dhul- Hijja and the odd is the Day of Arafah and the even is the Eid ( Ahmed 3/ 327 and Bazzar 2286) Ibn Rajab graded the isnad of this hadeeth as being Hasan.

(Source: Taken from Laýtaif al Maýrif and Tafseer ibn Katheer , Translated and compiled by Abu Aaliyah Abdullah ibn Dwight Battle ).

Wuquf Arafah (The standing at Arafah):The standing at Arafat praying and seeking forgiveness is of paramount significance. The standing huge crowds remind us of the Day of Resurrection, of how we will all stand equal before Allah on the Day of Judgment.

Muzdhalifa:

After Maghrib all the pilgrims will be transported from Arafah to Muzdhalifah where Maghrib and Isha will be prayed and everyone should rest as the Messanger of Allah rested.

Day- 23: (05/10/2014) (10 Dhu al Hijja 1435) (This is  Eid for the none pilgrims) Perform the rites of Hajj .Stoning The Jammara tul kubra, sacrifice, shaving or cutting the hair,Tawaf al Ifadha and return to Minnah.

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Zaad al-Ma’aad (1/54): The best of days before Allaah is the Day of Sacrifice, which is the greatest day of Hajj as it says in Sunan Abi Dawood (1765), where it is narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The greatest of days before Allaah is the Day of Sacrifice.”

It is the greatest day of Hajj.
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood between the Jamaraat on the Day of Sacrifice during his Hajj and said, “This is the greatest day of Hajj.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1742.

That is because the greatest actions of Hajj take place on this day, when the pilgrims do the following:

(i) Stoning Jamrat al-‘Aqabah
(ii) Offering the sacrifice

(iii) Shaving the head or cutting the hair
(iv) Tawaaf (circumambulation of the Ka’bah)
(v) Saa’i (between al-Safa and al-Marwah)
